Moving a wedding website off a rented platform

A couple wanted their wedding website on their own domain, with every page, word, and photograph carried over from The Knot, and a design that reflected their Filipino heritage.

The starting point

Platform wedding sites are easy to start and hard to leave. The photographs lived on someone else's servers, the address was someone else's domain, and the design looked like every other site on the platform.

What we did

  • Carried over every page with the same wording: story, engagement, Q and A, travel, things to do, schedule, registry, and RSVP.
  • Brought all 61 photographs home, so the site no longer depends on the platform staying up.
  • Drew a Filipino abaniko fan in code, worked like piƱa calado embroidery, for the hero and footer.
  • Kept it deliberately separate from the Loerop look, because the site belongs to the couple, not the studio.
  • Corrected small errors found during the move, like a ceremony time and a museum name.
